Three items have been removed from the Lesbian Line part of a display in York public library because it was claimed that they might contravene Section 28 of the UK Local Government Act.
The display was part of an exhibition staged as part of International Women’s Week and items removed were a copy of the Lesbian Custody Charter, a Pink Paper article about coming out and a New Internationalist feature on homosexuality.
Lesbian Line is not letting the matter rest and hopes to gather more information about similar displays to convince the local authority in York that such material can be legally displayed.
