Over the past few months, PTT affirmation ceremonies have been conducted all over the country from Scotland in the north to Cornwall in the south, with an unprecedented number of enquiries resulting from advertising in Diva magazine.
Nicholas Fältskog and Alan Stride had their ceremony at the gay run Philbeach Hotel in London with Denis Cobell officiating. The couple, their friends and their relatives, enjoyed a reception after the ceremony in the hotel’s popular Wilde About Oscar Garden Restaurant. Up north, James McKeating and John Sheffield “affirmed their love and commitment” at Blades Bar in Leeds with John Bosley officiating. James is a fireman, and Membership Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union Gay and Lesbian Support Group. His partner, John, is a teacher. Their ceremony was reported in detail with a photograph in the February 1999 issue of Gay Times.
